With a dragon as its national animal, and breathtaking mountains, Snowdonia in Wales is the perfect place to escape everyday life of London on a weekend road trip.
Snowdonia National Park
I took a train into Cardiff, rented a car, and headed straight north into Snowdonia National Park for the weekend. It was interesting to watch the landscape change from flat land to hilly mountains as we drove north.
My stay was an airbnb in the park, and I met one of the nicest hosts I've ever had. What better way to wake up then on a farm with this view?
Portmeirion
Portmeirion is an adorable little village situated in the west coast of Snowdonia. It looks as colourful and cute in real life as it does in photos.
You do need to pay an admission into the town, which made it feel a bit like Disneyland, but still well worth a stop for lunch.
It’s also close to the shore, which gives a nice change of scenery to the mountainous park.
Snowdon Peak
Wales is home to one of the highest peaks in the United Kingdom - Snowdon.
I hiked up as far as I could before sunset, meeting some sheep friends along the way...
...And claiming my territory.
Tal-y-Llyn Lake
I have a minor obsession with visiting places that sound mildly similar to my name, so of course I had to visit Tal-y-Llyn lake while driving back down south in Wales. It happened to be one of the most beautiful lakes, and definitely worth the stop.
Getting Around
My trip wouldn’t have been the same without my little Fiat 500, which I totally fell in love with. Small car, big memories.
