Fresh baguettes, pink buildings, old churches, cobblestone streets… just a few of the many things I enjoyed in Toulouse, France this October!
LA VILLE ROSE
Known as ‘la ville rose’, the town literally feels like you’re walking through a village of pink. The cobblestone streets are all lined with buildings of the same colour.
Toulouse was so lovely to walk around, with lots of book stores, game stores and unique coffeeshops. And even better, the fall colours were in full bloom.
L’HISTOIRE
Beyond the old charm of the streets of Toulouse, there are plenty of old churches and basilicas to wander around aimlessly, with plenty of history in each.
I visited Le Couvent des Jacobins, and the beautiful Basilica of Saint Sernin.
LES PORTES DE TOULOUSE
The doors of Toulouse are a sight to see for themselves; massive, old, detailed and colourful. I developed a quick obsession of photographing every single one we passed by…
LA GARONNE ET LES PONTS
The Garonne river runs straight through the city, with yet another pretty walkway lined with massive trees that glow in the sun.
There are lots of nice bridges that build the skyline, like the Pont Neuf.
I took a stroll along the river and crossed the bridge to explore the Patte D’Oie neighbourhood.
JARDIN JAPONAIS
About 15 minutes away the center of town, there is a lovely Japanese Garden that is worth a stroll – even when the weather is cloudy!
LA NOURRITURE
The food scene is strong in Toulouse – there is plenty of delicious French food to devour on every corner. I enjoyed fresh pain au chocolat and baguettes every morning for breakfast, and tried some interesting artisan baked goods.
I also spent some time away from the rain in realllyy nice coffee & tea shops.
LA FIN
All in all, I had a lovely two days in what felt like a week’s time, enjoying la vie dans la ville rose. <3
