3 Days in Cornwall, England

Updated: Mar 4, 2020

I *finally* took the one trip in England I've been waiting on the longest - a roadtrip around the southwest coast of Cornwall! What a perfect place to spend a bank holiday weekend.

Why Cornwall?

Cornwall is filled with cliffy beaches and the bluest water we've ever seen. The southwest coast of England is a gem!

I took a train to Plymouth, then rented a car to drive around the coast and back.

Day 1: Lizard Point, Porthleven & Marazion

Lizard Point is the most southern tip of the island. It offers amazing views of the sea ahead - and of course a chance to also visit the most southern cafe in England.

I stopped in Porthleven for a quick taste of hipster coffee at Origin Coffee Roasters.

The last stop of the day was Marazion, another interesting thick sand beach with a castle off in the distance.

They've built an underground walkway to reach the castle in low tide, or you can take a reasonably priced boat over during high tide. However unfortunately they were closed on Saturdays - so I just looked on from the shore!

Day 2: Porthcurno, Land's End and St. Ive's

On the second day in Cornwall, I jumped back into the car and drove around the coast.

The first stop was Porthcurno beach - even on a super foggy & windy day, it's still a very beautiful beach!

It goes on forever, and has the most blue water surrounded by the most incredible cliffs. There are also lots of insanely unique plants & flowers.

After Porthcurno, I head to Land's End - a beautiful destination that's been overpopulated with holiday goers. Watch out for the cliffs!

While driving through Cornwall, always keep your eye out for secret spots to stop... I pulled over the car, hiked for about 30 minutes and found myself looking out onto a private paradise. "Is this even England?!"

Lastly, I stopped in St. Ive's - another beach community filled with tourists, but this one had a really nice summer holiday vibe to it.

Delicacies of Cornwall

Cornwall is known for its pasties, as well as its Cornish scones. I tried both - and followed all the instructions to assemble our scones perfectly ;)
